Hi.
You know, I have to relate to you a conversation I had with my friend who just downloaded the patch for me.
He asked why a person would have to re-download the game to install a patch?
He read the post that Norb posted, and he laughed.
His reasoning is that it's not for the comfort of the programmer, but for simple consumer convenience.
He said good thing the game isn't 4 gig, or you would have been really been Sc**wed.
Anyway. On Sunday night I had my friends over to see the game in all it's glory, and after about 20 minutes the game crashed, and that started a discussion that I just won't go into here.
Mind you, they did like the game.
I don't mind getting razed over the coals for something I happen to support.
Love the game Norb.
Patches.
Re:Patches.
Yes, forcing a re-download of all the game files for each patch would not be normal. For a beta it's not like it has to be user friendly, though it would be nice.
I intend to make the mod updater handle the game patches as well, which will eliminate the need to redownload the game or do any manual patching at all. Just need some time as there's a lot I am doing this week.

Re:Patches.
By today's standards our game is pretty small. But I will look into doing real patch releases. We do really try to support active members of the community in anyway we can.
I hate hearing about crashes! I just wish that I had a save or something that would help me track it down. But if it was before you installed the patch, it was probably something already fixed. Knowing what the crash was, I just can't understand how it got by all our testing, cause we tested this like crazy.
Your friend is correct to laugh, it's all about the laziness of the programmer

Hi Norb.
The patch works fine, nothing so far has shown up. Clean as a whistle.
You know, I haven't met any programmers that speak with this level of honesty before....breath of fresh air.
Cheers...

Re:Patches.
I have games which at the 8th patch are still occasionally crashing. A 1.0 HAS to crash, still I've yet to have a single crash here.

Re:Patches.
This is something that NSD has to address, no one else has the rights to distribute any of the game files.

Ok.
