Better to ask about this, before I do anything.

Game won't run. Keeps crashing. Hopefully we won't get any posts here, but if we do, we'll try to help you out. You can also post any bugs that you find here. IMPORTANT: Don't post mod related problems here!

Better to ask about this, before I do anything.

Post by Michael Slaunwhite »

Hi.

I'm having to go house sitting at the end of may, so I thought I might ask this question now.

I know the proper way is to be online for activation, and for deactivation.

But what if I press the deactivate button accidentally while not being online, will the game stop me there, and tell me that I require to be online for deactivation?

AND/OR

Will it deactivate the game within my os anyway, and will I have to contact you by email to get it re-activated because your server still thinks it's activated since I was offline when it deactivated (out of breath)?.

Alright, I think I just lost myself here...

I know the simplest way is close my eyes and do it to see what would happen (which is what I normally would have done in the past, and I have paid dearly for doing things that way), but I really like the game too much to go screwing around....so I thought it better to simply ask.

Thank you.

There have been a few probs with people who deactivated and needed help to reactivating. Solved within the same day, don't do it on purpose just to try but if you need to do it or if you mistakenly do it, just don't worry the prob will be solved very soon and easy. :)

When you accidentally click the deactivate button in the main menu, you'll get another window with the possibility to deactivate or to cancel.

If you try to deactivate the game without internet connection the game should remain activated.

I do check to make sure that I can talk to the server before I activate or deactivate. So it should not mess you up and the process is as ADukes describes it. There is one rare case that I don't handle properly, but it will be fixed in the next patch.

To simply explain what it does, it does some hardware checking and writes the info in the game folder. Then it makes sure that it's valid before we launch. So copying the folder will mess it up. I "think" that you could install on an external drive and it would work out ok.

Thanks Norb. Just thought better to ask before coming across the situation with no way to get in touch with you.

Later!
