One of the features I like is the smoke effects. They seem pretty good to me. When down at ground level and a lot of muskets are firing, looking through the smoke at the enemy has a pretty realistic feel. Unless I'm imagining it, the smoke effects seem toned down a bit from some of the early screen shots and movies. The released smoke effects seem better to me than the early ones, which seemed a bit overdone. The smoke is much much improved over TC2M.
The only smoke effect I'd like to see changed a bit is for artillery. I'd like to see the smoke (with a little flame) shoot out further in more of an expanding cone shape rather than the roundish shape that now exists.

The earlier version of the smoke had some grey boarders which we decided wasn't as real as a sulpherous firing line, hence the whiter smoke. Getting things to this point took a lot of back and forth between Norb and I on what was happening and what WASN'T happening. I think we finally got it pretty much nailed and I have some ideas on an improved cannon effect. But this is future trial and error.
But cannon flame is directional, and if you can make it work on a 360 degree effect absolutely do. The SDK will be coming out as well and you can tweek the csv's to your hearts content (just remember to save the origional file! :laugh: )
In Graphic/Effects/Effects_01.dds second line down there are two sets of four white puffs.... one of these (can't remember which) is the cannon detonations. If you are comfortable with DDS with alpha images and Photoshop, have a go!
