Norb - I know that you stated years ago that you don't like restricting the camera angle, you like players to have the freedom to move the camera view anywhere.
But, how much trouble would it be to have a key-press to lock the camera at a forty-five degree angle, slightly in the rear of the selected unit?
Have it work something like the F-Key , so that the player can choose it if they what it!

Re: Norb : Camera Angle Question?
Very good idea. This should have to merge with the settings on camera restriction according to the difficulty level but it's a good way to go for any setting where the camera is unrestricted. Sort of "Me" button for every regiment of your side you can see.
Re:Norb : Camera Angle Question?
I have a question about the F Key. Is it possible to make it so it still follows but allows me to look left and right 90 degrees as if I was the rider.. that would be so cool!
EDIT - Ignore me about the F key, just found out that if I press it a 2nd time it still follows but I can look around, and a 3rd time releases the hold... Cool!

Is there a reason not to combine the functions of the first two presses of the F key? You could hit the F key once and it takes you to the unit/commander and at the same time you have the freedom of viewing all around without having to hit the F key a second time.I have a question about the F Key. You can get farther with a kind word and a gun than you can with a kind word alone.
Re:Norb : Camera Angle Question?
If anything happened it would just be a function. Then you could put it where you wanted in the keyboard.csv file. It seems a shame to do it. By locking the camera, you make drawing a whole lot simpler and can really speed up the frame rate. This is why most games never show you the horizon.

As long as this is a selectable option, for the ones that wasnt to use it!
This is based on something that was on the internet years, and years ago, but if the game is getting more than 10 fps the brain and the eyes can’t tell the difference from something getting a higher fps.
It’s only if the rates drop below 6-7 do you have a rougher movement with the mouse, and a stuttering of the games display, and functions.
I think that modding will help out greatly with some of this; some of us are stuck with having only one uniform, or having all of them. The modding – option will allow us to reach a point somewhere in the middle.

That is true, and that is the point about having a locking the camera directly behind the selected unit, it will restrict the drawing distance of the map, this slightly increasing the fps.It seems a shame to do it.
