Yup. Fort Knox is just up the road (Dixie Highway) about 20 miles outside of Louisville. I believe they just moved all their tank training to another base and are renovating Fort Knox for a different sort of operations. Not sure what though.
I did the Derby several times. Infield, boxed seats, Millionaires Row, even worked a few of them as a waiter while in college. A lot of fun. I think most of Ohio and Michigan moves to Louisville during Derby Week. hehe If you like the outdoors and/or golfing Louisville has the most parks of any city in the U.S. as well as the best public golf courses in the country. My only complaint, after living in St. Louis and Chicago is Louisville's night life isn't that great and St.Louis and Chicago have more and a much better variety of entertainment options.
I'm good for at least one Trivial Pursuit question: "What event is considered The Fastest 2 Minutes in Sports?" Answer: The Kentucky Derby!

Re:DID YOU KNOW:
I live in the town of Williamsburg which is on the KY TN border right on I75.
My son goes to school at Transylvania University so I am becoming pretty
familiar with Lexington. I grew up in St
Louis Mo though.

Small world. It's a pleasure to meet you Dr.Mike. I worked on Tucker Blvd. with the Dept. of Defense when I lived in St. Louis in the late 80's.

Looks like Kentucky has a strong representation here. We should form our own regiment!
