@Kerflumoxed: After reading your last post, I now know from where your username originates! :woohoo:
I keep telling my kids to get a good education or they will end up doing what I do for a living! hehe Though I haven't quite explained to them I have collected a few degrees myself. Funny how life works out.
I started earning a B.S. in Electrical Engineering in the 80's, collected a B.S. in Personnel and Industrial Relations . . .found a distinct lack of jobs available when I graduated (1986 we were still in a recession), decided to get an M.B.A., then found a job working with the Dept. Of Defense in St. Louis as an analyst, so the govt. paid for me to obtain a 2nd Masters in Mgmt. Info. Sys. (MMIS). The Graham-Ruddman Act was passed in 89 which instituted a RIF (Reduction in Force) across all dept.s of the military and I found myself unemployed once more. I took a job at the local Ford auto assembly plant and took the maintenance test to become an electrician apprentice (The complete opposite end of my original degree! hehe) Which meant I had to go another 4 years to get my license and associate's degree. If you are keeping count, I believe that is 5 post graduate degrees and I'm STILL doing grunt work in a dangerous, dirty factory.
I never said I learned anything while in college!!! Though it does pay well and the engineering degree helps when I need to size conductors or disconnecting means, or need to reprogram a robot or troubleshoot a PLC program etc . . . .
About the only thing I have learned about life during my 47 years on this earth is that you need to develop a sense of humor to help you deal with the ups and downs of everyday living.
Now I could explain about how I found out I was ugly, but that is a story for another time!
