Under the present system of TC2M, couriers always use the roads and try to "run" through the opposing infantry resulting is a decimation of the courier corps!

Also, is there a "button" that will shut off the courier function?
Thanks

OK, in a situation such as that, I would just change the courier dead to that of a enemy soldier dead sprite, now this will not solve the problem of the courier running through the enemy lines, but it will not produce a ton of dead horses on the battlefield either.Where I run into trouble is using my cavalry in the rear of the enemy to disrupt their movement. Whenever I move the main command, a courier is sent out to the cavalry and he invariably ends up "riding" through the enemy to reach the CO...and it is inevitably down a road that already possessed by the opposition.
I remember awhile back (year or so), there was talk about a smarter courier, I don't know if it is going to be implimented in the new game. Your concerns were voiced then, it's another thing to see if something is going to be done about it. :dry:Where I run into trouble is using my cavalry in the rear of the enemy to disrupt their movement. I would like to have the ability to "route" the courier or "turn off" the courier...or, if he sights the enemy, automatically choose a different route!

Untill you cure the problem, it's punishing, cause You can't move till you close out the message window(s), which can arrive every second or so. If necessary I'll go into pause, find the the culprit, double quick them to somewherelse. :SI don't mind the dead horses and bodies. I just get awfully tired of the courier screen popping up repeatedly.
Actually, the dead horses remind me of when I worked on North/South. Following the Petersburg scene, there was a scene showing some Unionists walking around a demolished town with horse carcasses strewn around. On most films (such as Son of Morning Star) these carcasses are just made in the shape of a horse from "fur" fabric. (They actually make good mattresses; they are very soft.) On N/S they used horse hides from a kill line...skinning and tanning the hides. It was impossible to get a live horse within 50 yards of the tanned horse! Perhaps they sensed that was their future!
