The Maps of Gettysburg
The Maps of Gettysburg
May I recommend "The Maps of Gettysburg" by Bradley M. Gottfried. The book has a 144 maps of the campaign and battle at the regimental level. Each map is full page, with a facing page of text for each map.The maps are in black and white. A full color version is coming out in April or May 2010. Makes a great book to go along with the game.Highly recommended. Also makes a great book for touring the battlfield.

It sounds like we may have to delay the game for this!
What an update for scenario authors!

personally i enjoyed the resource enough to grab Gottfried's book on the Manassas maps, and i'm not even planning on creating maps for those battles (MMG has already covered those battles quite nicely IMO).
while i seriously doubt any book exists for which we'd possibly delay launch of this game, the Art Dept. was each sent a copy of this very book to aid in creating the maps for the game.May I recommend "The Maps of Gettysburg" by Bradley M. Re:The Maps of Gettysburg
But imagine the historical accuratness that our scenario writers would have by seeing those maps!
As much as I like TC2M (which is a lot) the only complaint I really have with it is its non-historicalness in some parts.
Especially in terms of OOBs and such (though, whoever did that did an incredible amount of research. I would be the first to understand how confusion all those documents are. I've seen them. Regiments are claimed by as many as 3 commanders at the same time!)

Re:The Maps of Gettysburg
I just picked up The Gettysburg Atlas by Philip Laino.
http://www.gettysburgmagazine.net/?q=atlas
It has 421 maps that cover the march to Gettysburg, the battle, and Lee's retreat. It's incredibly detailed and also has an Order of Battle including commanders, estimated strength, casualties (broken down into killed, wounded, and missing), and casualty percentage rates.
It's the new Holy Grail for hard core students of the battle..

I agree with LP as to how great this atlas is. I also got it recently. It's spiral bound which is nice. However, you may have to take the wife or girlfriend (or both) with you as your atlas "bearer" if you take it with you to GB because it's pretty hefty (which is a good thing, content wise). Yes, it's the new GB map benchmark.I just picked up The Gettysburg Atlas by Philip Laino.

You can get farther with a kind word and a gun than you can with a kind word alone.
