CRASH!

Post by norb »

The main hard drive in the server went BLAM today. That's where we have all of our code and art and our ftp and just about everything that we need. But it's backed up every night and it seems the backup from last night at 2:15am EST is still good :) Problem is that the backup is on USB, so it's very slow. This drive has 132Gb of data. I've copied 40Gb so far. But it's moving along. At first it wasn't moving at all, but I realized that the server is so old that it only has USB 1.0, ugh! It's just a file server so it doesn't have to be fast. So I connected the USB to another drive and now it's humming. I hope that it's back up in time for the MP test tonight. Sunday, Tuesday, Thursday nights we all get together and discover how I broke MP this week :)

I'm watching the files get copied and it's pretty cool because I've never cleaned out this FTP folder. It still has the FTP folders from all the games. So I have the IGF demo in here, the old publisher demos, our first build of cwbr. Basically anything that we had on the ftp site while working on any of the games. So if anyone that worked on any of the old games put something on the ftp site that they want, just let me know and I'll see if I still have it.

My computer just got soda spilled all over it and died, but luckily my roommate has an extra old laptop lying around until I can get a new one. Good thing I backed mine up just two days before my accident!

This might be a warning to you, to make a back-up of the back-up .

Imagine losing all of those files, and starting all over from scratch!

That would be really bad! Just imagine, we would have to go through a whole extra 3-4 years!
