Jackson's Vally Campaign would be fun!

Sherman's Atlanta Campaign could be interesting.

And though it's been done, I agree with Hancock, that 2nd Manasass has great potential.

But since I don't Mod, and seriously doubt I ever will, I'll play whatever is available. I just like waging war with the coolest toy soldiers ever created. B)

We need to keep in mind that NSD is a business venture. They can correct me, but I assume the primary idea is to make a substantial (or at least moderate) financial return for the years of effort expended. Therefore, marketability must, obviously, be considered when choosing a subject. The broader the customer base interest in the games' subject matter, the more dollars eventually flow into the company. That, I assume, was the main reason they chose Gettysburg for their first game...a very recognizeable name. Since we already know the game will be excellent, there may be a positive aspect to having a similar title to a previous game produced by another company. If that other game was very popular, it will be a positive marketing tool if reviewers can say "This game is head and shoulders above game _____ which had been considered the benchmark for this subject".

While I'm sure there are plenty of potential customers who are civil war historians with a great depth of knowledge of the various battles and campaigns, I wonder if the larger customer base has a more general knowledge of the subject and is only familiar with the more well know battles. I've never started a company, but I assume one of the first things you have to do before you get too inventive is to establish a financial base from which to allow the company to sustain itself. Once that is done, there is a little more breathing room to take a chance on subjects that may have a smaller customer base.

Also, while NSD has expressed a wish to someday produce a campaign based game, unless I missed it somewhere I don't remember seeing anything about a campaign type game being released as early as NSD's second title. Of course, who knows for sure what is going on in those top secret back rooms of NSD.

We're hoping for a campaign game in the next title.

A campaign game, Antietam, Grant's '64 Campaign, Vicksburg or whatever, I am sure the next title will be great. In the mean time, we still anxiously await a lot of good game time with the yet-to-be-released title. Maybe we are getting too far ahead of ourselves and should let them keep concentrating on getting Gettysburg wrapped up and out.

I bet they're already thinking ahead to the next game.

We are just trying to finish one game. Every once in a while we dream a little, but nothing counts until we release. We still have a ton of work to do.

Poor Norb!

Norb, take our dreams for the future as the most sincere of compliments; we already know that Gettysburg will be fantastic, and are thus contemplating a whole string of such games.
