Re: units surrendering

I think it's ultimately random with modifiers for the retreating unit's morale, fatigue, proximity to enemy troops, etc. So if they get lucky on the dice roll they might run through your troops.

Re: Hits and Couriers

<t>I prefer playing SP with couriers set at division and above and commanding a larger force than a brigade. It's true that there is little or no meaningful regimental AI and, in my opinion, one of the great pleasures (and sometimes great frustrations!) of an HITS game is watching your subordinate c...

Re: A different Road marching issue

<t>Yes, I've noticed the same issue in the same spot on the map. I could be wrong about this, but I think that under the hood of each map the road networks are highlighted as a set of waypoints that units will snap to if ordered to use roads. The Antietam map is missing a batch of these waypoints ri...

Re: A Future Request:

<t>I second this! I have become very frustrated in many recent SP games for this very reason. I play HITS/courier and it is nearly impossible to prevent the first contact from becoming a man-killing vortex that obliterates any prior planning. Accurate to some degree--sort of how Gettysburg started, ...

Disengaging

<r>When playing HITS, how do y'all get a commander to break contact and disengage? I find it almost impossible to do. I am sympathetic to whatever anybody wants to say about the historical difficulty of such maneuvers, etc., but such a feat was possible and was ordered quite frequently. After <B><s>...

Re: GCM Multiplayer Maps

<t>I've picked up every new NSD release and eagerly await the next one. Here's hoping for the western theater! I would also love to see some multiplayer maps from Garnier. <br/> <br/> I think there is a wide gap between non-historical maps put out by Garnier and the research, scenario design, histor...
