  • RebBugler,
You've helped me several times during my long struggle to master the SOW games. I've tried your last suggestion. If I did it correctly, it didn't work. I've managed to get the toolbar to the bottom of the column using the "Z" method. I'll just leave it at that for awhile.
Thanks for your time and effort.

  • Update: Version 8.5 adjusts files to provide compatibility with the mod Les Cent Jours version 1.1 update.

    - New sprites from this update now include the 'firing sprite' in 'advance and withdraw while firing' sequences. Also, as per Grog Toolbar engagement procedures, infantry sprite loading sequences are extended for 'busy loading' realism effects.
    - The new formations added by this update are included in the drills and unitglobal files. They are not active in the unitglobal file (presently on inactive lines) but can be copied easily to the pertinent Prussian formation locations for use with the Grog Toolbar.

  • Reb: Thanks's for your great work. I've never had any problems before, but yesterday I downloaded 8.5 and played one of the Le Cent Jours scenarios (Bloody Morning). The Austrian line troops did not fire back (just like in DarkRob's "first look" play through). I replayed the scenario with 8.4 and it worked fine. Is anyone else experiencing problems with 8.5?

I haven't had a chance to try out 8.5 yet, but just a quick troubleshooting question before Reb gets back to you, do you have the grog toolbar prioritized below the Les Cent Jours mod?

  • Yes, I had it prioritized correctly. Also, to add to my previous post, it was odd because the troops in the fort fired back but the line battalions did not. They just stood there and got shot to pieces like in your first look play through. I will give it another try later today and see what happens.

The first thing Id suggest trying is seeing if the problem with 8.5 is global throughout the LCJ mod or just with that new blooding morning scenario. Try 8.5 with The Hero's of Strasbourg and see if the Austrian line units will fire. It shouldn't take to long to test in that one since the Austrians start off basically right in your face.

I would test it myself, but Im still in the middle of doing the French Le Souffel scenario for youtube and I started it with 8.4, so I wont change it to 8.5 until I start the Austrian full battle.

Thanks for finding this though. If there is a problem Im sure Reb will be able to fix it quickly as his spidey senses tingle the moment anyone posts in this thread.

Confirmed, can't find the fix yet so will have to rebuild version 8.5. Glad you've got 8.4 to use in the meantime.

    Thanks for the report!

Mr. Dufus again. Where is my mod folder?

I've read instructions for finding it but can't find it. Maybe I didn't create it.

    Best,
    John

Hey Reb, so I have this idea and I wanted to run it by you. Would it be possible to add a column by division - hold form button to the grog toolbar?

I'm asking because sometimes I like to form assault columns up right in rear of line units in order to act as a counter attacking force, should the line unit get charged, the assault column can counter charge while the enemy unit is reforming.

The thing is, what often happens is I have to babysit the assault column because once the enemy unit comes within engage distance of it, it will of course form line. So I have to force them to stay in assault column.

This is just an automatic function, and a core mechanic of the game, so I wouldn't be surprised if it can't be bypassed simply with a column by division - hold form option.

But it can't hurt to ask right?

    Hey Rob

You're right to not be surprised for a hold form option would not solve your issue. Still, there is a possible solution, allowing a 'Can Fight' option for 'column by division' (CBD) formations.

To test if it works for you edit the Drills file in this mod. First make a copy of the Drills file. Then open Drills and for all Level 5 and 6 CBD formations place a 1 in Column J (Can Fight) . This will allow all CBD formations to fight and hold form.

If this works for you I have a solution in mind...A button only 'Can Fight' CBD formation on the brigade level. This way CBD formations won't default to 'Can Fight', they will occur only when opted by the player with that one formation button.

So, put on your modders hat and test this solution, meanwhile, I'm returning to my ACW escape. If it works for you I'll follow up with a button solution when I find time away from my main escape.

Thanks for this amazing mod. Is there a way to get it to work with multiplayer? I get a csv error when I try.

Do most mods not work with multiplayer?

It should work fine as long as no other mods are activated. Please post your log file here after a crash if there's no mod conflicts that you're aware of.

Thanks for your help. I only have the grog toolbar version 8 activated (although I had the same issue when activating previous versions)

When I try and click host I get a unitglobal.csv error (see attached)

Hi J28, is a conflict generated by the unitglobal.csv file that you'll find into the QB DLC/Logistics folder.

Just rename that file and everything will run fine

Please check out this new thread just posted: www.norbsoftdev.net/index.php/kunena/nuts-and-bolts-waterloo/79855-important-fix-reinstalling-waterloo-and-dlc-additions#79972

Even though the issue you reported is fixed now, you still may have some corrupted files due to reinstalling Waterloo incorrectly. Thanks for this post by alerting us to this ongoing issue. Hopefully the new thread will help folks reinstall Waterloo correctly, despite the Matrix oversight.
